Reducing the volume of products we consume and prevent producing waste by buying wisely should be our main concern. Disposables are obviously the first products to find alternatives for.
Switching to tap water for drinking is a great way to stop discarding all those plastic bottles and it saves a great deal of money at the same time.
We have our own well on the finca. We have installed a UV lamp in the water deposit to kill bacteria. For drinking and cooking we have installed an extra filter system of inverse osmosis in the kitchen. The fact that inverse osmosis "wastes" water is not a problem in our case as we use our waste water filtered by the reed bed to water the vegetable garden.
